Congratulations to Jon “Trouble” Towers for his victory in event 6. This is Jon’s third win in the last two seasons after (surprisingly) going his first 8 seasons without one! It must be all the extra nutrients he gets from his private pomegranate orchard! Jon also won our Final Table playoff tourney and Main Event seat at the end of Season 15.
In 2nd place was Jim H. for his best finish since he won Event 6 in season 12. In 3rd place was Rene, followed by Chris, Dr. Bob and Paul H. to round out our money winners.
The tope of the leaderboard tightened up some as Matt posted another goose egg. He still leads by a healthy 70 points over Paul H., who moved up from 5th to 2nd with his fifth score in a row (including 4 final tables). Keith dropped down to 3rd place and Wayne moved up two spots with his 7th place finish this week. After that, Alan dropped two spots to 5th place followed by Rene, Jon and Mark Ross to complete our guaranteed seats. John B is our current bubble-boy.
Event 7 is a regular deep-stack tournament on Saturday Nov. 19th at 3pm
And the winner of event 5 was Not Matt Burley – aka Gary Bousquet. Congratulations Gary on your fifth career syndicate victory. In the last three seasons Gary has won one tournament per season – so we should be safe from him until next season! In second place was Lena, playing in her first Syndicate event since season 12 in 2016. Mark Ross clearly likes dealing since he got 3rd place for the second time this season. Keithy and John Thursby got 4th and 5th to round out our money winners.
We decided to let Matt B play this tourney after all but made sure he didn’t get any points – but even with his first 0 since March of last season he is well ahead of the field. Keithy though is closing the gap – with five scores in as many events, including three final table appearances – he has moved into 2nd place. Alan got a min-score and dropped down to to 3rd place. Behind him is Mark “3rd place or nothing” Ross. After that there is a tie for 5th between John B and Paul H. Wayne is in 7th place and Gary’s win moved him up into guaranteed seat territory. Ranjit is our current bubble-boy.
Next Up: Event 6 will be a re-entry tournament on Saturday, November 5th at 3PM. The evite will be out soon. Matt B is still invited at this time.
Full results and the updated leaderboard will be ready soon.
First – how about those Padres! What a great game and series – and against the Dodgers!
Next, we have an announcement to make. In the interest of fairness Matt Burley will only be able to play in every other tournament. He’ll be able to play next on Nov. 5th.
Seriously, congratulations Matt on your second win of the season and 11th overall (in 9 seasons)! Apparently even Matt needs a little luck on his side though: with 5 players remaining Matt shoved KJo and gets snapped by Keith with AA; a K on the flop and a J on the turn gave Matt a big stack and he never looked back!
Steve P took 2nd place and Keithy held on for 3rd. Mark S and Wendi got 4th and 5th respectively to round out our money winners.
The Leaderboard: After 4 events Matt B has 4 scores, 3 final tables and 2 wins. So he’s in the lead. 105 points below him is Alan with a win and three scores. John B and Paul H are in 3rd and 4th respectively, each with 3 final table appearances this season. Keith (4 scores), Wayne (3 FT’s) Ranjit, Buck and Scotty round out our players currently in the green section.
Next Up: Event 5 is a regular deep stack event this Saturday, October 22nd at 3pm.
Greetings Syndicators!! After losing access to our website for the entire Summer, we are finally back online!! We will get everything updated over the coming week after Season 17 – Event 3 tomorrow (Sunday, Oct 2).
Check this out – after 123 events spread over 9 seasons, Anthony is now a Syndicate winner!! Head’s up against Mark Sawkar began with relatively even stacks but Anthony was not going to let this chance at victory slip away. And in the final hand he busted Mark’s KK with a straight. Congratulations to Anthony!!
After Mark came Jon Trouble in 3rd, Farid in 4th and Keithy in 5th.
Congratulations to Keith “A-9” Morgan for his best finish of the season. This was Keith’s first victory since season 14 when he won two events . This is Keith’s eighth overall Syndicate win since joining us back in season 5. In second place was John Borges with his best finish of the season (he has nine scores!). In third place was Dave Readman, who now moves well up into the playoff picture. In 4th place was Scott D; and Jonkey took 5th for the second tourney in a row.
Congratulations to Jon Towers for his second win in just three events! We definitely live in crazy times! In second place was Scotty Storrs followed by Matt B, John B and Jonkey.
Please note – unless something significant happens, the leader-board prize projections are now set. We’ll have one guaranteed main event seat. Then seven guaranteed $1,500 seats; then four $1,500 seats awarded in the playoffs. The top three playoff winners will join the seven guaranteed seat winners to play in our bonus final-table tournament to award our other main event seat.
In order to send this many players (2 extra) we agreed that all winners will forego their up-front expense money. In the event that a player cashes then she/he will be able to take double what their stipend was going to be before splitting their prize with the Syndicate.
And your favorite Syndicate Commissioner somehow won Event 13! This was Jonkey’s first win since Event 6 back in Season 13 and his eleventh regular season win overall. In 2nd place was Dalton, with his best finish in six events. And in 3rd place was Paul R. Newcomer Devon got 4th and Mona got 5th place to round out our money winners.
The winner of our third major of the season is Jon “Trouble” Towers with what is surprisingly his first regular season Syndicate victory! In second place is Tom “The Kid” Brown and in third place is the best player in Syndicate history – Ranjit!
Finally!! After a gap of 2,236 days, one of the most celebrated players in Syndicate history – Paul “Pman” Hopkins – has returned to The Winner’s Circle! Paul began his Syndicate career back in Season 4 and represented the Syndi at the WSOP in six of his first eight seasons, including a Main Event seat in Season 8. Paul’s last win was Event 10 of Season 10. In 2nd place was Kelsi “Tik Tok” Burley with Dr. Bob coming in 3rd.
It’s official – Mark Ross has the best winning percentage in the Syndicate this season! In second place was Amy and in third was John Borges – both with their best ever Syndicate finishes. In 4th place was newcomer Donny L and in 5th place was David Benjamin.
Back to back for Scotty D!! All that good karma he banks for helping set things up every tourney is starting to pay off! In second place was a new player, Kyle Sedlick. And in third was Matt “he can’t be that good” Burley. Oh, and everyone’s favorite Anthony – Anthony – came in 4th, followed by Mona in 5th.
Please players – we had a problem with the computer after this tournament and I asked everyone who played what their finish was. Some did not answer so I have incomplete results for this one. Help me out!!!
[remember we skipped Event 6 – that will be rescheduled sometime next year]
Congratulation to Scott Denis for taking down Event 7 of the season. This is Scott’s second win since joining us back in Season 13. Spork, who’s been kind of part-timing it for awhile now came in 2nd place, which was his best finish since Season 11, Event 9 (!) when he also earned a 2nd place. In 3rd place was Christopher followed by Matt “what, I didn’t win again” Burley in 4th. Wayne came in 5th to round out our money winners.
So Jacob came down from Menefee and showed the Syndicate who’s the boss!! Oh, and of course Matt “Ace-Ten” Burley got second place. Tom came in third, followed by Wendi and Don Bisco to round out our money winners.
So the good news for everyone else in the Syndicate is that Matt B didn’t win our first major of the Season. The bad news is that Ranjit won!! Congratulations to Ranjit on his third Syndicate win in just three seasons! In 2nd place was Gary B and David B came in 3rd place. Joy and Rene came in 4th and 5th respectively for their best finishes of the season.
We have always tried to approximate the structures that the WSOP and this season they began including antes from the very start of each tournament. The above structure that we are adopting is very close to what the WSOP is now using. One thing to note is that while antes now begin immediately there are new levels like 200/300 and 300/500 that help keep the tourney deep early. You’ll also notice that 800/1600 is gone and replaced by 1000/1500. In general this structure gets lower denomination chips off the table quicker while still increasing the levels at a reasonable pace.
Unless some tourneys go very late (like majors/re-entries) we will have the same structure at all regular season events. The first 6 levels will be 30 minutes long, followed by dinner. This will also mark the end of the re-entry period for those events. Then levels 7 through 18 will be 25 minutes long. Levels 19 (which will be about midnight) and higher will be 20 minutes in length. If we reach the final level of 50,000/100,000 it will go until the tourney is over. As always, there is no ante heads up and the 3rd place finisher MUST stay to deal until the end.
After dinner, the other breaks each occur one level after a chip-denomination is no longer needed. That gives the table one level for someone to buy up the chips and then we’ll remove them at the end of that level. These breaks will be as short as possible.
This is also a good time to remind players that they can arrive late but must be seated before the start of level 10. Unlike in the WSOP though you do start with a blinded down stack.
Congratulations to Mark for winning the third event of the season. This is Mark’s second Syndicate win. Right behind him were Matt with only his third top-2 finish in three events, and Kelsi with her second top-3 finish in a row! Wayne and Scott D came in 4th and 5th place for their best finishes of the season.
We’ve had several hubby-wife players in the Syndicate but we’ve never had them go heads-up for the win before! No surprise though, considering the results of this week’s WSOP Monster Tournament, that the first 1-2 duo would be Matt & Kelsi! Congratulations to both of you on this tournament’s results and your finishes in Vegas.
In 3rd place was Mona, for her best Syndicate finish. In 4th place was Jimmy X in his Season 16 debut. And Keith came in 5th for his second solid finish in two events this season.
We’re now two events in the season and Matt already has a 1st and 2nd place finish. It looks like someone has his sights set on next summer’s Main Event already!! You can check the Results page for the updated leaderboard and all the results.
The Final Table
NEXT UP: We play this Saturday at 3PM! This is a regular deep-stack tournament. You can check the schedule page for the full schedule.
