On Saturday, we kicked off our 20th Season with a fantastic turnout as 50 players joined us for the first event!
As I mentioned before the tournament, this club began 20 years ago when Mark Antis and Chris Gregg convinced a bunch of their friends – mostly from the beach volleyball community – to start a poker series, with the winner representing the group in the WSOP Main Event. For the first five seasons, the club (which didn’t even have a name until its third season) sent just one player to the Main Event each year. These days, we typically send three players to Las Vegas for the Main Event, along with another dozen to compete in the $1,500 events.
Over the past two decades, the Syndicate has welcomed just over 500 unique players. Some only played a tournament or two, others stuck around for a couple of seasons, and each season we’ve gained players that are still with us today. While the Syndicate has certainly evolved over the years, there is also a continuity as our current membership includes players from all stages of our history, tying the very beginning to the present day.
So let’s keep this going and see how far we can go!
Season 20 • Event 1 Results
In first place, after crushing the final table, was Scott Najjar. Scott had such a commanding chip lead that the final four wrapped up in just about seven minutes. Anthony battled his way to 2nd place, with Robert and Lisa taking 3rd and 4th. Rounding out the money were Steve P, Keithy, Wendi, and Steve A.
